Our Philosophy

At Dartmoor Dental, we want to help local children grow up with healthy teeth and a positive relationship with their dentist — and, importantly, help prevent children ending up in hospital because of dental decay.

We already care for 3,000 wonderful children through our children’s NHS Dental Service.

NHS & Private Children’s Dentistry

We are currently full for NHS children’s places and are unable to accept any new NHS registrations at this time. Whenever more NHS places become available for children aged 0–18 who live locally to Tavistock, we’ll always announce these on our website and social media.

However, if you would like your child to join Dartmoor Dental, we are now welcoming children through our private children’s membership plans from September 2026, giving families another way to access regular, preventative dental care with our team.

Making the dentist a positive experience

We believe visiting the dentist should feel friendly, relaxed and reassuring from the very beginning.

We want children to feel comfortable coming through our doors, which is why we even hold dedicated children-only dental days during the school holidays, creating a fun and welcoming environment just for them.

Healthy habits that last a lifetime

Our children’s dental care is about much more than simply checking teeth.

Prevention is at the heart of what we do. By helping children and their families understand how to look after their teeth from an early age, we hope to prevent dental problems before they begin and set the foundations for a lifetime of good oral health.

From babies having their very first visit, through childhood and into the teenage years, our team is here to provide friendly, preventative dental care for children and families across our local Tavistock community.
